Tight security arrangements for 3rd phase of Bihar polls

Tight security arrangements have been made for the third phase of the assembly elections to be held in 48 constituencies spread over six districts in Bihar tomorrow. Director General of Police Neelmani told AIR that jawans of central para military forces will be deployed on almost all booths. Inter- district border and state's border with Nepal have been sealed to prevent any infiltration of anti social elements. Satellite phones are being used to monitor the movements of naxalalites. AIR Patna correspondent reports that Jawans of Special Task Force would keep air surveillance from helicopters to ensure trouble free polls.Five constituencies of Patepur, Balmikinagar, Ramnagar, Tariya and Amnaur are naxal infested. Polling parties have arrived at their polling stations. Chief Electoral officer Sudhir Kumar Rakesh has appealed to electorates not to get scared and come in large numbers to cast votes. Mr. Rakesh said that Observers and Micro Observers have been appointed to ensure free and fair polls. Over one crore electorates will decide the political fortune of 785 candidates including 65 women. Former Chief Minister Mrs Rabari Devi is contesting from Sonepur and Raghopur constituencies. Important candidates whose electoral fate will be decided include five Ministers Gautam Singh,Brishen Patel, Vyas Dev Prasad, Ramchandra sahni and Smt. Renu Devi.Meanwhile filing of nomination papers for the sixth and the final phase of Assembly election is underway with issuance of notification on Wednesday. 26 assembly constituencies spread across five districts of the state will go to the polls in this phase on Nov 20.
