Thulasidharan urges Govt to revoke decision of permitting cotton export

Chairman of Southern India Mills’ Association, J Thulasidharan has urged the government to immediately revoke the decision of permitting cotton export and suspend the cotton export till next season. He said, this should be done in the interest of several million people employed in the predominantly cotton based textile industry.

In a Press Release issued in Coimbatore today, Mr. Thulasidharan said that the removal of suspension of cotton exports has come as a rude shock for the entire cotton textile industry in the country and the industry is worried that the decision might result in closure of spinning mills for a period of two to three months for want of cotton.
