Three village defence committee members kidnapped in J & K

Three village defence committee members, kidnapped by militants from Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir today managed to escape from their clutches. The members, Shadi Lal, Magar Singh and Kartar Singh were grazing cattle in Alkanda area of Doda district yesterday when they were kidnapped by militants. Officials said that they were later taken to a forest area and stripped off their clothes. As one of the two militants cocked the rifle to fire on them, Kartar Singh pushed the ultra and the trio escaped from the spot. They then informed police authorities and army. Meanwhile, two live grenades were recovered from scrap in Jammu city and defused. Former Army man Vijay Kumar detected the two live grenades in the scrap collected by women and informed police. Bomb disposal squal personnel then defused the grenades.<br/>
