In Assam, three suspected NSCN extremists were killed in an encounter with police at Bara Haflong of North Cachar Hill District on Tuesday evening. According to police, acting on a tip off, a team of Assam police raided the area and the extremists in a bid to fled away opened fire on the police. The police also retaliated and in the encounter which lasted about ten minutes, the three extremists were killed on the spot. Police recovered 2 pistols, 3 mobile phone sets and 3 live cartridges from the spot.<br/>
