In Afghanistan, three suicide attackers were killed in the southern city of Kandahar late on Sunday when they attacked a border police checkpoint. Four policemen were injured when a suicide bomber riding a motorcycle detonated himself near the checkpoint. Kandahar's provincial border police said, the police personnel at the checkpoint opened fire on the other two attackers and killed them. Meanwhile, a prominent Muslim religious leader has been assassinated in eastern Afghanistan along with two members of his family. Police chief of Kunar General Khalilullah Zaiyie said that Rahman Gul, his brother and a relative were killed on Sunday in the Chapa Dara district as they were returning to their homes. The leader was active in promoting peace across Afghanistan and was a member of a religious leaders' council for eastern Afghanistan.
