Three-storey building collapses as heavy rains lash Delhi

A three storey building collapsed in the national capital as heavy rains lashed most parts of the city today. According to the Fire Department, the incident occurred near RK Ashram Metro station at around 2.55 PM. Five fire brigade vehicles have been rushed to the spot.The city experienced one of the heaviest showers of the season with the rain gauge at Palam recording 32.8 mm of rainfall. At Safdurjung 11.8 mm of rainfall was recorded till 2.30 in the afternoon. Widespread showers led to water logging and traffic jams at most places with traffic coming to standstill at all major crossings including Ashram, South Extension, Narayana, ITO, Raja garden and most parts north east Delhi. The Met department predicts heavy rains to continue over the next 24 hours.
