Three policemen, one foreign soldier killed in Afghan violence

In Afghanistan, three policemen and one foreign soldier were killed in separate incidents of violence. Three policemen were killed and five others wounded as a roadside bomb struck their van in southern Helmand province. Police spokesman Kamaludin Khan said today that the tragic incident happened last evening as a mine planted by Taliban militants struck a police vehicle on Khanshin-Garmsir road. Meanwhile, the toll of foreign troops killed in the Afghan war this year rose to 615 today with the death of a soldier in the once peaceful north of the country. NATO said the soldier died following an insurgent attack. It gave no further details. The current year is the deadliest year for foreign soldiers as the toll was 521 in 2009.
