Three office bearers of Jagatguru Kripalu Parishad arrested in connection with Pratapgarh Stampede

In Uttar Pradesh three office bearers of Jagatguru Kripalu Parishad have been arrested this after noon at Bhakti Dham Ashram Mangarh in Pratapgarh where on 4th of this month in a tragic stampede 63 people mostly women and children were killed and over 70 others critically injured. A luncheon Bhandara was organised by a well-known saint, Kripalu Maharaj on that day on the occasion of death anniversary of his wife.<br/><br/>It was announced by the Chief Minister Ms. Mayawati at Lucknow while talking to media persons. She also announced financial help of 2 lakhs fifty thousand rupees each to the next kin to the all deceased and 75 thousand rupees to seriously injured persons. Accusing centre of playing politics over tragedy she alleged that state government has not yet received amount of financial help announced by the centre earlier. She criticised the Congress for making unrealistic announcement.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister had announced financial assistance of two lakhs rupees each to the next kin of deceased of the stampede and 50 thousand rupees to those who are injured. He had made this announcement in parliament on 5th of this month. The management of the Ashram, Jagatguru Kripalu Parishad has also handed over a cheque of one crore 10 lakhs for providing financial help to the victims.<br/><br/>AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that unnamed FIR has been lodged against organisers of the event and management of the temple for the incident and investigation has been handed over to a deputy superintendent of police. The Divisional Commissioner Allahabad Mr. Ajay Kumar Upadhyay has held responsible Ashram Management for the stampede in his preliminary inquiry report.<br/><br/>Several senior leaders of different political including National President of Congress Mr. Rahul Gandhi and former national president of BJP Mr. Rajnath Singh have already visited the villages and incident site to console the victims.<br/>
