Three major political parties in Nepal fail to arrive at a consensus on the crucial peace process

In Nepal, the three major political parties failed to arrive at a consensus on the crucial peace process to resolve the current political deadlock even as the extended dateline set by the President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav to form a national consensus government comes to a close this evening.<br/><br/>The meeting of the top leaders of the Unified CPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and the CPN(UML) ended inconclusively in Kathmandu this afternoon with the parties failing to iron out their differences on the modality of integration of the Maoist army in national security forces.<br/><br/>Talking to newsmen, CPN(UML) Chairman Jhalanath Khanal said the parties will continue their dialogue process to form a national government based on consensus even after the dateline set by the President comes to a close this evening.<br/><br/>The meeting was attended amongst others by the Maoist Chairman Prachanda, Acting President of the Nepali Congress Sushil Koirala and the CPN(UML) Chairman Jhalanath Khanal Nepali Congress and CPN(UML) have already rejected the proposal put forward by the Maoist on the modality of integration of their army into security forces stating that the Maoist plan was against the spirit of all past accords including the comprehensive peace agreement.
