In a significant development, top leaders of Nepal's three major political parties on Friday formed a high level political mechanism under the chairmanship of Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala, in a bid to end the current political deadlock and complete the drafting of the new constitution on schedule.<br/><br/>The decision to form the high level mechanism was taken at a meeting of top leaders of the three major parties -Nepali Congress, CPN (UML) and Unified CPN (Maoist) held in Kathmandu on Friday.<br/><br/>The political mechanism will include Maoist Chairman Prachanda and CPN (UML) Chairman Jhalanath Khanal.<br/><br/>Talking to newsmen, CPN(UML) Chairman Jhalanath Khanal said the meeting decided to include other political parties as well. He said the political mechanism will focus on drafting and promulgation of country's new constitution by May and take the ongoing peace process to its logical conclusion.
