At least three people were killed and five others injured today when a suicide bomber in an auto-rickshaw blew himself up near a group of policemen in the provincial capital of Peshawar in northwest Pakistan. The incident comes a day after 14 people died in a similar attack in the city. The attack was the latest in a string of strikes that have killed more than 300 people over the past six weeks.

Peshawar police chief Liaqat Ali Khan said the bomber apparently seemed to be heading somewhere else but blew himself up when he was stopped by the policemen.
