In Maharastra, at least 3 persons were killed and 31 others injured in a collision between a local train and Vidarbha Express near Nashik on Mumbai-Kasara route last night. Railway Board Chairman Vinay Mittal said in New Delhi that the mishap took place after 11 bogeys of an EMU train from Kasara going to Kalyan derailed possibly due to landslide. He said that the derailed coaches blocked the adjacent track on which the Vidarbha Express, going from Mumbai to Gondia, came from the opposite direction and collided with the bogeys at around 2130 hours. A medical team has reached the accident site.Out of the 31 injured, 4 are in a critical condition. According to Central Railway PRO, Chandrashekar V, relief operations are in progress and the injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals in Kasara, Igatpuri and Nasik Union Minister for Railways, Shri Mukul Roy has announced an ex-Gratia of Rs.5 lakhs to the family of the dead, Rs.1 lakh each to the grievously injured and Rs.25000/- each to the persons who have suffered simple injury in the mishap.
