Three Indian Navy ships from the First Training Squadron arrived at Colombo Port for a four day visit.<br/><br/>The ships, INS Tir, INS Sujatha and Coast Guard Ship Varuna, were ceremonially welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions on their arrival.<br/><br/>Later, Captain C.R Ayyar, Commander S Muthukrishnan and Commandant B Ranjan called on the Deputy Area Commander Western Naval Area, Commodore Senarath Wijesuriya at the Western Naval Command Headquarters in Colombo.<br/><br/>The personnel of the three ships will be involved in carrying out branch specific training programmes for the Sri Lankan naval personnel onboard the ships.<br/><br/>They will also be involved in a joint-naval exercise, PASSEX, with the Sri Lanka Navy.<br/><br/>First Training Squadron imparts sea training to Indian naval and Coast Guard officers and trainees.<br/><br/>The Squadron has also been providing training to personnel of friendly foreign navies for over four decades.
