Three-fold salary hike for Bihar Legislators

Legislators in Bihar will get a three-fold hike in salary and they will get 25,000 rupees per month besides a jump in their allowances. All this cost the state exchequer an additional burden of 34 crore rupees. The decision to increase the salary and allowances with effect from April 1 was taken yesterday at a cabinet meetingpresided by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Principal Secretary in the Cabinet and Coordination Department Ravikant told reporters that as per the revised pay structure, the members of the two houses of the state legislature will now draw a salary of 25,000 rupees per month as against 8,000 per month they drew last year.
