Three fishermen released by Sri Lanka return home

Three Indian fishermen released from Sri Lankan jail returned home today at Karaikal port. The fishermen were brought home by Indian Coast Guard from international maritime boundary line. <br/><br/>The fishermen were sent to their fishing hamlets in Tiruvarur and Rameswaram. More from our correspondent:<br/>Fishermen from Tamil Nadu are hoping that lasting solution will be found to the issue with the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Sri Lanka. <br/><br/>The fishermen urge the central government to secure the release of 133 fishing boats detained by Sri Lanka. They say that their livelihood is badly affected and most of the fishing boats are getting damaged. Now mechanised boat fishing is banned in the eastern coast of Tamil Nadu for fish species propagation since middle of last month. <br/><br/>Sri Lanka releases fishermen apprehended by their Navy on humanitarian grounds after diplomatic pressure but detains fishing boats as deterrent measure.
