A three-day State level Farmers’ Day begins in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) in Coimbatore today. This Kisan Mela will provide a wholesome experience to farmers and those involved in agriculture production. Tamil Nadu Minister for Agriculture, Mr. K.A. Sengottaiyan released seven new crop varieties, three farm implements and six management technologies in the function.Mr. S.P. Velumani, Tamil Nadu Minister for Industries, inaugurated an exhibition as part of the mela. This mega exhibition showcasing the advanced technologies on farm and non-crop options like animal husbandry and fisheries promoted by the Research Stations and Krishi Vigyan Kendras of TNAU and allied departments. Organizing Seminars will be another highlight of the show. Velaan Chemmal awards will be given to five farmers in the mela in recognition of their contribution to agriculture and progressive farming practices.
