All the three convicted in the whistle blower Satyendra Dubey murder case have been sentenced to life imprisonment by a special CBI court in Patna. Mantu Kumar, Udai Kumar and Pinku Ravi Das were earlier convicted by special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court last Monday for the crime.<br/><br/>Dubey, a 31-year-old graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), was working with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and posted with the Golden Quadrilateral,He was murdered in Gaya district Nov 27 in 2003 , after he wrote to the Prime Minister's Office detailing corrupt practices rampant in the project, and a nexus among corrupt officials, politicians and contractors.<br/><br/>During the investigation, CBI arrested four persons, namely Mantu Kumar, Udai Kumar, Pinku Ravidas and Sharvan Kumar, all residents of Katari village in Gaya, Bihar. They had all assembled near Circuit House, Gaya on the fatefull intervening night and when Satyendra Dubey was passing in front of Circuit House, Gaya in a cycle-rickshaw the accused persons robbed him of his belongings and during the ensuing scuffle, Mantu Kumar shot him dead with a .315 country-made weapon. A Briefcase containing documents belonging to Satyendra Dubey including his Identity Card and also the country-made .315 pistol, used for the robbery and murder of Shri Satyendra Dubey were recovered from an abandoned well during investigation. Accused Sharvan Kumar gave full and voluntary disclosure about the incident and was made an approver.<br/><br/>After thorough investigation, CBI filed the Charge-sheet on the 3rd of September in 2004 against the three accused persons. The trial court found all the three accused persons guilty for the offences and convicted them.
