Three booked under MCOCA in Deonar Dumping ground fire

Three main accused in Deonar Dumping ground fire case have been booked under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act. A senior police official confirmed this to AIR. So far, 15 men have been held for allegedly causing fire inside the dump yard on the 28th of January and the 20th of March last. The three alleged masterminds of the Deonar dumping ground fire booked under MCOCA are Atikh Khan, Rafiq khan, both scrap dealers and absconding accused Javed. <br/><br/>Police said that MCOCA has been evoked as there is evidence against the trio. All arrested are in jail as their bails have been denied by a sessions court in Mumbai. The accused have been booked under six charges of the Indian Penal Code. The fire, which first broke out in January and lasted 10 days before restarting intermittently several times in the later weeks, worsened the air quality in the city.
