Tens of thousands of pilgrims from different parts of the country worshiped the Makarajyoti in Sabarimala Ayyappa temple on the annual Makaravilakku festival today.<br/><br/>The Sannidhanam and surrounding forest areas were teeming with pilgrims waiting to witness the Makarajyoti at the Ponnambalamedu hillock soon after Deeparadhana was performed on Lord Ayyappa this evening. The presiding deity was decorated with sacred jewels "Thiruvabharanom" brought from the Pandalam palace in a ceremonial procession.<br/><br/>The Makaravilakku festival marks the culmination of the current pilgrim season in Sabarimala which recorded huge turnout of devotees this time.
