In Thailand, thousands of people turned out in Bangkok today to watch the funeral procession of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.<br/><br/><br/>The late king will be cremated late evening today in a royal pyre to be lit by his son, King Maha Vajiralongkorn. The funeral started with a merit-making ceremony, a Buddhist rite, in the Grand Palace. <br/><br/>His body will be pulled from the Grand Palace to the cremation site on a golden chariot. Members of royal families and dignitaries from more than 40 countries will attend the cremation.<br/><br/>The revered king died in October last year aged 88. Since his death, Thailand has observed a year of official mourning, with many people wearing black. The King was seen as a stabilising figure in a country hit by cycles of political turmoil and multiple coups.
