In Kerala, several thousands of fishermen and their families took part in a human wall Manushya Sagaram in the state's coastal belt this evening, demanding protection to their life and boats in the deep sea. Fishermen from 222 fishing villages across the state stretching from Pozhiyoor in the south to Manjeshwaram in the north took part in the human wall organised by the Kerala Fisheries Coordination Committee. People from different walks of life also joined the human wall. They took a pledge to protect the right to fish in the deep sea. The human wall was organised in the backdrop of two separate incidents recently involving merchant vessels, in which seven fishermen had lost their lives.
