Thousands of devotees witness Bahuda Yatra at Puri in Odisha

Thousands of devotees witnessed the world-famous Bahuda Yatra, the return car festival, of the deities – lord Jagannath, lord, Balabhadra, lord Sudarshan and Devi Subhadra – at the pilgrim city of Puri in Odisha today. The pulling of three chariots of the lords – Taladwhaja, Nandighosha and Devadalan started about 4 this evening by the devotees towards the Lions Gate of the Sri Jagannath Temple after all the rituals were completed.<br/><br/>According to reports last came in, the Taladwaja chariot of lord Balabhadra has reached the Lions Gate, while Devadalan of Devi Subhadra is approaching the Lions Gate. The Nadighosha chariot of lord Jagannath is also on its way to the Lions Gate of the Sri Jagannath temple. Elaborate security arrangements were made in Puri for today's Bahuda Yatra. <br/>AIR correspondent reports that lakhs of devotees today thronged the holy city of Puri to witness the return journey of the lords of Sri Jagannath Temple. <br/><br/>Bahuda Yatra is the journey of the three chariots of the lords to Sri Jagannath Temple from Sri Gundicha Temple. After spending a week inside the Sri Gundicha temple, the deities commenced their Bahuda Yatra. The Deities will remain in their respective chariots today after they are parked in front of the Lions Gate of the main temple for the Sunabessha, golden attire of the lords, scheduled for tomorrow. The police have made massive security and traffic arrangments for the Sunabesha.
