Thousands line up on roads to bid adieu to Sultan Qaboos

<span style="color: #222222;">Thousands lined up on the roads in Muscat to bid adieu to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, architect of modern Oman today on his journey to the final resting place.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The casket, draped in the Omani flag, was carried to the Grand Mosque where hundreds of people joined the prayers. One of the longest reigning monarch, the body of Sultan Qaboos, was interned in a simple Islamic ceremony with state honours. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The final prayers were attended by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq bin Taymour, royal family members, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidi, Diwan of Royal Court, officials and thousands of Omanis and expats. Oman declared three days of official mourning with flags to be flown at half-mast for 40 days.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' Qaboos solidified his rule during 50 years of his regime and used the oil revenue to transform the country into the modern day economy . Being a lover of classical music, Qaboos founded the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra in 1985. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He also was said to enjoy riding and reading. Qaboos set himself apart from his peers in the Gulf with an unorthodox regional policy. During his regime, the Sultante of Oman remained a neutral mediator in the otherwise turbulent region.</span><br />''
