Thousands in Nepal pay homage to Bishnu Lal Maharajan known as "Living Martyr"

In Nepal, thousands of people today paid their last respects to Bishnu Lal Maharjan, popularly known as living martyr, as his mortal remains were consigned to flames at Bishnudevi Ghat in Kathmandu this afternoon.The 42-year old who sustained spinal injuries in April 2006 People's Movement, popularly known as Jan Andolan-II. He was hospitalized in Kathmandu on the 29th of last month. It was Jandonalan-II that forced former king Gyanendra Shah to reinstate parliament.Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of Unified CPN(Maoist) Prachanda, Chairman of CPN(UML) Jhalanath Khanal, Nepali Congress Vice President Prakash Man Singh were among those who paid their last respects to the martyr.Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal called upon all political parties to rise above party interests in building a consensus to formulate the country's new constitution within the stipulated time frame and fulfill the mandate of the people’s movement.
