Although a week behind schedule, monsoon on Sunday arrived in Mumbai with a bang. Intermittent rains have been lashing the city since last night. Mumbai’s Met Department too has confirmed the arrival of the south-west monsoon. Speaking to AIR, Mumbai MET Department’s Director of Meteorology, VK Rajeev said that monsoon has now covered almost all parts of Maharashtra except some pockets in the north. He also informed that till 7 PM Sunday, 31 mm of rainfall had been recorded in Colaba while 33.2 mm rainfall had been recorded at Santacruz weather station.For the next 24 hours, intermittent rain is expected all over Mumbai while heavy rain may lash some parts of the city. Maximum temperature would be around 30 degree celsius while minimum temperature would be around 24 degree celsius. For commuters, traffic jams were recorded at some places in Mumbai and its surburbs. Air and rail traffic, however, remained unaffected.
