Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Prof K V Thomas has called for evolving a firm policy for exporting food commodities from the country. Addressing a function to mark the inaugural of the Kerala Chapter of Federation of Indian Export Organisations in Kochi today, Prof Thomas said, a practical approach is needed for this purpose, regardless of vote bank politics. He said a certain quantity of food grains will have to be exported to ensure good price for the farmers.The Union Minister noted that the country has a bumper storage of 82 million tonnes of food grains, of which wheat alone constitutes 70 million tonnes.Chief Minister Oommen Chandy inaugurated the Kerala Chapter of Federation of Indian Export Organisations.
