This year's Budget identifies need to preserve environment and had many provisions to achieve this goal: Prakash Javadekar

Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar had defined this year's general budget, as Green Budget. He was addressing 11th National Convention on Sustainable Development Goals, held in Mumbai this morning. He said that the budget had identified the need to preserve the environment and had many provisions to achieve this goal through various measures. As a part of these measures, environment related projects would be cleared within 90 to 100 days.<br/><br/>The Minister said, the government is considering the proposal of erecting Metro car shade at Aarey coloney in Mumbai. 300 trees were required to be slashed off for this purpose. Instead of cutting them down, government is willing to replant them somewhere else.<br/><br/>Along with Maharashtra's Minister for Industries, Subhash Desai, top 50 domestic corporate leaders have assembled under the aegis of the United Nations in this convention, to formally adopt the Sustainable Development Goals of the world body and discuss the way forward for implementation. These 17 goals are being implemented from January 2016 to December 2020. The companies that are attending the convention include the Tatas (14 group firms), Reliance Industries, Vedanta, ONGC, Essar Group, the Birlas, L&T and the Adani group.
