The all party meet held at Thiruvanathapuram in connection with development of highways in Kerala has decided to agree to the central direction to increase the width of national highways to 45 meter. After the meeting attended by prominent leaders of all major political parties Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthandhan has said that adequate compensation equal to market price will be given to those who are to be evacuated for the project. Kerala government has been demanding for a long time to restrict the width of high way project to 30 metres considering public protest. However, since the National Highways Authority was not prepared to heed to the request, finally the all party meet has agreed to go by the central norms.
