Third phase of polls in Jharkhand, J&K tomorrow

Polling for the third phase of five-phased assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand will be held tomorrow. The campaigning for this phase ended yesterday. In Jammu & Kashmir, sixteen assembly segments spread over three districts Budgam, Baramulla and Pulwama in the valley will go to polls in this phase. About 13.6 lakh voters will exercise their franchise at 1781 polling stations.

In Jharkhand, 17 assembly seats will go to polls in the third phase tomorrow. About fifty lakh voters are likely to cast their votes from 7 AM to 3 PM for the third phase of election for 14 of the 17 Assembly seats. Voting in Ranchi, Hatia and Kanke will end by 5 PM. There are 289 candidates whose fate would be decided through 9073 Electronic Voting Machines.

For third phase polling, many seats have noted candidates in fray, like ex- Speaker C P Singh, ex- Chief Minister Babulal Marandi, AJSU Chief Sudesh Mahto and Ministers Rajendra Prasad Singh, Anapurna Devi and J P Patel.

Now the candidates are using door- to -door campaign and finalizing their booth management strategies. About 450 election rallies by parties in 22 days of campaigning, in which BJP has held more than 225 rallies, then comes the JMM which has held more than 100 rallies, while JVM has held about 70 and Congress about 65 rallies in the state so far.

Meanwhile, campaigning for fourth and fifth phase continues in the state. Union Fertilizer Minister Anant Kumar today also addressed rallies apart from other leaders of the BJP, JMM, JVM and Congress.
