In Bihar, amidst tight security arrangements, polling is underway for the third phase of Panchayat elections at 875 Gram Panchayats in 54 blocks of the state. The polling began at 7 am and will continue up to 5 this afternoon. In Naxal affected area, polling will be up to 3 pm. AIR Patna correspondent reports that over 52 lakh electorates will decide the fortune of 87 thousand 92 candidates. The state government has made an elaborate security arrangement in comparison to previous two phases of elections in the state. The Deputy Inspector General of Police has been instructed to camp in ultra-infested districts to ensure free and fair polls. Additional jawans of Bihar Military Police (BMP) and Special Task Force ( STF) had also been deployed in sensitive and hypersensitive areas to maintain strict vigil. The state administration has sealed the India – Nepal border along the state to stop infiltration.
