Thick cover of fog and dip in mercury made life difficult in capital

A thick cover of fog coupled with a dip in mercury made life difficult for residents of the capital who experienced yet another cold and hazy morning today. Mercury slid down overnight to sub normal levels, with the minimum temperature recorded at 6.1 degree Celsius. This is a degree below normal as also a degree down from Sunday's minimum of 7.0 degrees. The capital was enveloped over the night by a very dense cover of fog which brought the visibility down to as low as 50 meters. Fog started to descend on the airport around 8 PM on Sunday night and gradually became dense, forcing airport authorities to implement low visibility procedure (LVP).However, the fog slowly cleared away after 9.00 am to make way for the sun and better weather condition. No respite is expected from fog as weather officials said dense fog is again expected to descend in the early hours of tomorrow. The maximum temperature over the past 24 hours was recorded at 18.8 degrees Celsius which is three degrees below normal.According to today's forecast, the minimum temperature is expected to be around 6.0 degrees Celsius tomorrow while the maximum temperature over the next 24 hours is expected to be around 19 degrees Celsius.
