The Prime Minister has expressed confidence that the Indian Media will encourage impartiality and objectivity and work towards reducing sensationalism.

Dr. Manmohan Singh said, there should not be any outside control on Media. He was speaking after releasing a stamp in the memory of Late Puran Chandra Gupta in New Delhi today.

Dr. Singh expressed hope that Indian media will itself make efforts to do away with ills like paid news.

Recalling the contribution of Mr. Gupta, Prime Minister said, he started the publication of “Jagaran” newspaper which helped a lot in freedom struggle of India. He said, the access of print and electronic media has increased owing to new technology and he believed this is good for democracy.
