Chief Executive of HDFC Bank Aditya Puri has admitted that there is more room for banks to lower lending rates. Addressing the NASSCOM summit in Mumbai on Friday, Mr. Puri said factors like inflation and liquidity play a major role in transmission of benefits to customers.

He said, whenever there is surplus liquidity, banks will have to cut rates whether the regulator cuts rates or not.
