‘The more troops, the more violence in Afghanistan’

The top US and NATO commander in Afghanistan has warned that the surge of troops in restive areas will increase violence. Calling the Afghan war a draw so far, General McChrystal confirmed that violence will possibly increase in different parts of Afghanistan in the coming months. Talking on a US television show, the General while being happy about the progress, acknowledged that there are still challenges facing Afghan and foreign forces. He said the insurgency remains serious, with a reach that spans the country and a large number of fighters.General Mchrystal has taken charge of the war against terrorism during mid-last year and has demanded 40 thousand extra troops whose deployment will be complete in coming months. The war in Afghanistan is US top foreign policy challenge with President Obama reviewing the progress every month.
