Tharoor dismisses allegations levelled against him

Dismissing the allegations levelled against him, the Minister of State for External Affairs, Mr Shashi Tharoor has asserted neither he has invested nor received a rupee for mentorship from the Kerala consortium Rendezvous. <br/><br/>In a statement in the Lok Sabha today, he clarified that he neither has been benefitted nor intends to get benefit from his association with the consortium irrespective of his relationship with any of its member. <br/><br/>Mr Tharoor also denied reports that he has used his official position to benefit the consortium and maintained that his role in mentoring the Kerala franchisee is within the bounds of appropriate conduct for a Member of Parliament from Thiruvanthapuram and a member of the Union Council of Ministers. <br/><br/>He elaborated that the issue had nothing to do with his ministry and he was in no position to influence the bidding process and did not grant any favours or benefits within the purview of his ministry to the members of consortium.<br/><br/>He said his official position gave no advantage to him in this regard. <br/>He said that a Kerala IPL team is a dream to many from the state which has potential to bring great material and psychological benefits to Kerala's economy and society. <br/><br/>The minister asserted that he was proud to have helped the consortium to come to Kerala, a state, which has been excluded from participation in India's cricketing resurgence.<br/><br/>Vice President of the BCCI and Congress MP Rajeev Shukla today said that BCCI has taken a serious note on the IPL controversy. <br/><br/>Mr Shukla said that a meeting of the governing council of the BCCI will be called and a decision will be taken on the issue. <br/>
