Tharoor calls for expansion of UN Security Council

The Minister of state for External affairs Dr. Shashi Tharoor has expressed a strong need for expansion of UN Security Council in which voices of deserving unrepresented nations could be heard. He was speaking on the issue of India today and tomorrow organized by India Business and Professional council in Dubai today. He said that at least four or five new permanent members are required to balance the Security Council as per the changed geopolitical scenario of the globe.Describing Indian government’s resolve for the development of the country, he said the results are visible and lot of work is being done on several sectors in this regard. He added that today’s India is India on move, focused on tomorrow. During economic downturn, India demonstrated resilience and Indian economy showed robustness.A large number of people including Ambassador of India in UAE Mr. Talmiz Ahmad, Indian Consul General, Dubai Mr. Venu Rajamony, Consuls general of France, Romania, Canada, Philipines and eminent Emiratis were present on the occasion.Earlier he met crown prince of Dubai Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Al Maktoum today and discussed the issues concerning mutual interests. He also attended a reception organised by Thiruvananthapuram Expatriates Association (TEXAS) in the city last night.
