Thane building collapse: 9 persons remanded to 14 days police custody

Thane police have arrested seven more persons in connection with building collapse in Thane district of Maharashtra in which 74 people were killed. Earlier, the police had arrested two developers of the collapsed building.

Addressing a press conference today Thane police commissioner K.P. Raghuivanshi said that the court has remanded all of them to 14 days police custody. He said the arrested persons include an assistant Municipal Commissioner , an NCP collector and the material supplier.

Raghuvanshi said that investigations into the case have thrown up some shocking revelations and added that There is a big racket involved in illegal constructions. He that builders were pushing people to stay in such buildings so that it would be difficult to demolish them.

Raghuvanshi said that the investigation is still on and there is a possibility of few more arrests in the case.
