Saina Nehwal has advanced to the second round of the Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold badminton tournament. In the first round of the women's singles in Bangkok on Wednesday the top seed and world number four defeated Lu Lan of China 21-17, 14-21, 21-18. In the men's singles, four Indians – P. Kashyap, Sourabh Verma, R.M.V. Gurusai Datt and Ajay Jayaram – entered the second round which is also scheduled for Wednesday.
