Saina Nehwal has advanced to the second round of the women's singles in the Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold badminton tournament. In the first round of the event in Bangkok on Wednesday, the top seed and world number four defeated Lu Lan of China 21-17, 14-21, 21-18. In the men's singles, P. Kashyap has moved into the third round.Three other Indians – Sourabh Verma, R.M.V. Gurusai Datt, and Ajay Jayaram – also progressed by moving into the second round.
