Thousands of anti-government protesters in Thailand defied the security forces and taking control of a satellite transmission station to try to restore an opposition television channel. Police and soldiers protecting the building fired teargas in an attempt to dispurse them.The government shut down the People Channel yesterday saying it was destabilizing the political situation. The protesters known as the red-shirts say they want to get it back on air. They are still inside the compound and demanding a meeting with a senior military commander.
