Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on Thursday said he believes April 2011 is the appropriate time for House dissolution provided everything goes as planned. He said the exact date will be known after the Election Commission sets new rules. Mr. Abhisit said if the Election Commission can tell him when the new rules will be ready, then he could say when the House of Representatives will be dissolved. The Election Commission needs to set the new electorate boundaries and announce the related regulations based on the charter change. The Prime Minister said under the charter, once the opposition camp files a censure motion with the speaker, House dissolution is not allowed until the debate is concluded. The prime minister has mentioned several times that he planned to hold general election by mid-2011 although his term expires at the end of this year. The Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thuagsuban also said a week ago that the government would call for House dissolution.
