Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva says he is looking forward to discussions with his Indian counterpart Dr. Manmohan Singh Tuesday evening to energise mechanisms to meet the security challenges. He said that his country is keen to tap greater potential in the fields of trade, investment and tourism. He arrived in New Delhi early Tuesday morning on a day's visit and was accorded ceremonial reception at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. Abhisit Vejjajiva said that his visit will further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries. Thai Prime Minister in his delegation level talks with his Indian counterpart will discuss wide range of issues of international, regional and mutual concern. Coordinated patrolling in the sea to deal with piracy, expansion in trade ties and greater Thai investment in the infrastructure particularly in the tourism will be the focus of discussion in the talks. Comprehensive free trade area agreement is expected to be inked soon between the two countries to expand the trade basket. The trade registered a 34 percent growth in the last year and crossed 6.6 billion US dollars mark. During his stay in the national capital, Abhisit Vejjajiva will hold meeting with the captains of the Indian industry and exchange views with the External Affairs Minister S. M. Krishna and the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. He will also call on the Vice President and the President before leaving back home. The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is organising a banquet in the honour of visiting dignity at the end of the delegation level talks in the evening.
