Text messaging turns 20 tomorrow. The first SMS was sent on the 3rd of December 1992 as the Christmas greeting. Now, about 8 trillion messages are being sent a year.
It was Neil Papworth, a Software Programmer, who sent the message first on 3rd December to his friend Richard Jarvis on Vodafone who was enjoying his Christmas festival at that time.
Then mobile phone didn't have key boards and the message was typed on personal computer. Over the years text messaging has undergone significant changes to include text poetry, text adverts and text prayers.
