Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu today said terrorism has no religion and boundaries and nobody should be allowed to get away with acts of violence in the name of ideology. <br/><br/>Addressing a function to mark the 33rd Raising Day of the National Security Guard (NSG) at Manesar in Haryana, Mr Naidu said, the time has come for the international community to launch a concerted effort to isolate States which are sponsoring terrorism. <br/><br/>He said, over last 33 years, NSG have successfully handled terrorist and hijack situations, defining role in Akshardham, Mumbai and Pathankot attacks. Mr Naidu said, NSG has always risen to occasion to ward off challenges, be it counter terrorist or counter hijack operations or protection of people. The Vice President also paid homage to 19 Brave Martyrs of elite commando force, who made supreme sacrifice in line of duty.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that the NSG was set up in 1984 as a Federal Contingency Deployment Force to tackle all facets of terrorism in the country. <br/><br/>Modelled on the pattern of the SAS of the UK and GSG-9 of Germany, it is specially equipped and trained to deal with specific situations. It is a task-oriented Force and has two complementary elements in the form of the Special Action Group comprising Army personnel and the Special Ranger Groups, comprising personnel drawn from the Central Para Military Forces and State Police Force.
