Terror groups may eye sea route to enter India: PM

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has said terror groups would try to use sea route to come into the country. Addressing the three-day conference of Direct Generals of Police and IGPs in New Delhi today, Dr. Singh said infiltration attempts along LoC and international border in Jammu and Kashmir was increasing. He said a new cyber security structure was being prepared by the Centre to prevent threats to cyber security. Dr. Manmohan Singh also said that SMSes and social media in recent propaganda was a new challenge and we needed to counter it.

The Prime Minister honoured Olympic medal winners MC Mary Kom and Yogeshwar Dutt at the meeting. Both the medal winners were awarded Rs 22 lakh each and given a plaque.

An announcement was also made at the gathering that Mary Kom, who was till now a Deputy SP in the Manipur Police, has been promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP). Dutt holds the rank of Deputy SP in the Haryana Police.

This is a rare instance where the Intelligence Bureau (IB) made elaborate arrangements to felicitate the sport stars as they both are enrolled as police officers in their states.
