In Nepal, the term of the seven-member high level taskforce formed to iron-out differences among the major parties on drafting of the new constitution has been extended by a month till December 11. This was decided at a meeting of the representatives of 27 political parties in the constituent assembly held in Kathmandu yesterday. Talking to newsmen Maoist Chairman Prachanda said the taskforce has resolved 39 contentious issues out of over 200 identified in the constitution drafting process. He said the all-party meeting expressed satisfaction over the progress made in resolving differences among the parties on various disputed issues. AIR Kathmandu Correspondent reports that a seven-member high level taskforce was formed on 11th of October with the Maoist Chairman Prachanda as its coordinator to forge a consensus among the parties on the contentious issues of different thematic committees of the constituent assembly. The constituent assembly has only seven months left to promulgate a new constitution before its term expires on May 28 next year.
