In Assam, tension still prevailed in the curfew-bound four police station areas in Goalpara district. The district administration promulgated indefinite curfew in Dhupdhora, Rongjuli, Dudhnoi and Krishnai police station areas from last evening after group clashes and torching of houses by miscreants along Meghalaya boundary. Police and paramilitary forces are flag marching in the violence-hit areas and keeping a strict vigil on the miscreants. The State Revenue Minister Dr.Bhumidhar Barman and the Irrigation Minister Mr. Nur Zamal Sarkar on Thursday visited the violence affected areas and reviewed the situation with the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Goalpara district. They also visited the relief camps set up in different parts of the district. Over 12,000 violence- affected people of East Garo Hills district of Meghalaya are taking shelter in as many as eight relief camps set up by the district authorities. The Assam Chief Minister Mr. Tarun Gogoi and his Meghalaya counterpart Mukul Sangma had a telephonic conversation on the latest situation in East Garo Hills. The two Chief Ministers have assigned their respective Chief Secretaries and Director General of Police (DGPs) to bring the situation under control.
