Tension continues in Rayalaseema & Coastal Andhra regions against bifurcation of state

In Andhra Pradesh, tension continues to prevail in several parts of Rayalaseema and Coastalandhra regions where pro-united Andhra agitation is on protesting against the bifurcation of the state.

Agitators continue to attack public and private properties in several parts especially in Ananthapur and Kadapa today on the third day of the 72-hour long bandh.

In Vizianagaram, where curfew was clamped last evening, the situation is presently calm. However, the special officer Vikram Singh Mann asked people to remain indoors and not to venture out. Additional forces including paramilitary force are expected to reach the district head quarters by this noon.

Meanwhile, about 30 thousand employees of electricity department mainly working in power generation units have begun striking work since this morning. The power generation in three major units has stopped due to which electricity supply to hundreds of villages in seemandhra regions has been disrupted.

The South Central Railway has cancelled several passenger trains in Vijayawada division as pre-emptive measure to avoid inconvenience to passengers.
