Tension continue in AP following fresh protests

<br/>In Andhra Pradesh, tension continued till late in the evening on Osmania University campus in Hyderabad following fresh protests by the students after a pro-Telangana activist attempted suicide by setting himself ablaze. The self-immolation bid sparked confrontation between the students and the police at several places in the city. See-saw battles and stone-pelting continued till late in the evening on the University campus – the nerve centre of the pro-Telangana stir.<br/><br/> Meanwhile, the condition of the student who set himself ablaze was stated to be serious. Irate students damaged window panes and set fire to three buses including a private bus near campus as the protests turned violent after police foiled the attempts of agitating students to march to the state Assembly yesterday. According to police, the situation is brought under control.<br/><br/> The University authorities have postponed all the examinations except of engineering courses scheduled to start tomorrow.<br/><br/> On the other hand, police have thwarted attempts made by students to lay siege to the state Assembly and prevented them from reaching assembly by closing all leading to it. Police have resorted to mild lathi charge in controlling the agitating students.
