Tennis: Sharapova and Ferrer advance to Singles semis at Miami Open

Russia's Maria Sharapova and David Ferrer of Spain have cruised into the Singles semi-finals of the Miami Open Tennis tournament. In the Women's Singles quarterfinals, third seed Sharapova defeated Sara Errani of Italy, 7-5, 7-5. The fourth quarterfinal between Serbia's Jelena Jankovic and Roberta Vinci of Italy is yet to be played. Earlier, World Number One Serena Williams of the United States and Agniezska Radwanska of Poland advanced into the semi-finals.In the Men's Singles, third seed Ferrer beat Jurgen Melzer of Austria, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 to book a place in the last four stage. In the other quarterfinal matches, Tommy Haas of Germany, who had stunned World Number One Novak Djokovic in the pre-quarterfinals, will take on Frenchman Giles Simon, second seeded Briton Andy Murray will meet Marin Cilic of Croatia, and Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic will clash with Richard Gasquet of France.
